What can't we look at?
The Dental Complaints Service was launched on 24th May 2006, and so we are not able to accept complaints which arose more than 3 months before this date. Before sending us your complaint you should know that there are some other things we can't look at.
We can't look at complaints about NHS treatment. We also can't look at staff matters - such as recruitment, pay and discipline - or at commercial or contractual issues.
In some cases, there may be a more appropriate organisation to deal with your complaint. For example, for some complaints the only or best way for you to get the remedy you want may be by going to court.
For complaints about the competence, conduct or behaviour of clinical staff that raise questions of patient safety, we may decide to recommend to you that you approach the General Dental Council.
We recommend you call our Helpline on 08456 120 540 to check that we can help, and for advice on filling in your complaint form.
